# Cosmology vs. Cosmology

> A working definition written for this wiki from the reading notes; not Antikythera's own wording. From Antikythera Wiki (https://antikythera.wiki/terms/cosmology-vs-cosmology), an independent guide to Antikythera's published work.

The "dangerous disconnect" between astronomical cosmology (what is known about where, when, and how we are situated in the universe) and anthropological cosmology (what cultures construct to give meaning to where, when, and how they are). *After Alignment* closes on it, rejecting the demand that scientific cosmology be brought "down to earth" under the sovereignty of cultures and asking instead which cultures could be composed to align with what science discloses; the research statement says anthropological cosmology is now achieved through computational cosmology. Entry 88 of *Accept All Cookies* states it as an inequality, Cosmology (Astronomy) > Cosmology (Anthropology), and calls the valorisation of cosmological diversity for its own sake a refusal of "the universality that the actual universe demands."
