# Anthropomaximalism

Andrea Capra's proposed term (audience Q1, Panel 2) for the objectionable part of anthropocentrism, separated from the unavoidable part. The human frame of reference cannot be stepped out of — and, Capra argues, Antikythera is itself anthropocentric in that the anthropos is the link between planet and sapience. What should be rejected is the maximalist view: humans as the center around which everything orbits, the top of a great chain of being, or the terminal form of the evolutionary process. The panel half-adopts it: Sherman (humans as conduit, not center or end), Agüera y Arcas (no view from nowhere, but networks rather than an org chart with God on top), Bratton (humans are the conduit asking "when is now?", against post-humanist leveling).
