# Artificial Generic Intelligence

Bratton's deliberate rewrite of AGI. "General" intelligence measures machines against human-equivalence (shallow anthropomorphism: AI thinking the way humans think they think). "Generic" intelligence names the deeper correspondence — *biomorphism* — between iterative stochastic prediction in transformers and in biological neurons: one mechanism, substrate-independent, that humans also run ("yes, you are a stochastic parrot, after all"). The concept carries the lecture's thesis that the significant AI–human correspondence is not at the level of the manifest image but at the level of the underlying process, which culture has not yet absorbed. Agüera y Arcas's *What Is Intelligence?* is the book-length argument for the same claim.
