Corrective Loops

Antikythera's name for the regulatory feedback that, in Maughan's Infinity Mirror, separates a technosphere that lasts from one that fails; the article itself says only feedback loops. Following Frank, Grinspoon and Walker, Maughan contrasts a biosphere that learned over deep time to damp perturbations with Haff's fossil-fuel "synthetic corona," which pushes coupled systems into states nobody can yet steer. Maturing means installing such loops deliberately; Maughan's thesis is that simulation is where they get built: climate models, digital twins and Earth-2 are meant to sense a disturbance, run it forward and trigger the answer, the 1990s CFC response and asteroid-deflection tests being early specimens. Digital Twin is the unit, Mature Technosphere / Class V Planet the threshold, Recursive Governance the political extension. Agüera y Arcas's Daisyworld chapter concurs; Sherman's Planetary Platform Automation cautions that Gaia's homeostasis was only ever temporary and that planetary regulation proceeds by rupture too.
