# Biospheric Reproduction

Walker's closing conjecture in Recursive Worlds. Life on her account is copying at successively larger scales (cells, near-identical humans, many instances of one technology), so a technosphere that is genuinely a living structure should eventually copy the biosphere that produced it. The claim turns origin-of-life research from history into engineering: a planet whose technologies of perception can resolve how matter first crossed into life would hold the recipe for repeating that transition elsewhere. It follows from assembly theory's copy-number criterion, and Agüera y Arcas reports the consequence Walker draws: Earth, existing once, is not alive until it reproduces. There the two part, since his Dynamic Stability requires homeostasis rather than reproduction, so a Gaia-like singleton already counts as living. Likavčan's Substrate-Agnostic Ecology offers a nearer-term variant: the technosphere as armature for the "assisted reproduction" of organisms and metabolisms within one biosphere, short of copying worlds.
