Computational Overhang (civilization-scale)

The research statement's diagnosis of the present: technology — planetary computation especially — has outpaced the concepts available to describe, let alone guide it, so that "Human agency exceeds human wisdom." Distinguished from the utopian condition in which imagination outruns capability. The Synthetic Intelligence section narrows it to AI overhang: unused or unacclimated AI capacity affecting not just narrow domains but how civilizations "understand and register their own organization."
