Societal Time Literacy

Prescriptive where Moynihan's temporal orientation [J] is descriptive — one asks where a civilization thinks "now" sits, the other says it should learn to think further in both directions. The paper's evidence for its urgency is that transmitting a one-line nuclear warning across 241,000 years has taken forty years, a dedicated field (nuclear semiotics), and no settled answer.
