# Psychozoic Era

Joseph LeConte's late-19th-century name (alongside Dana's "Era of Mind" and Stoppani's "Anthropozoic") for the geological age in which living matter's flows are dictated by mental forces — the direct ancestor of "noosphere" and Bratton's "Noocene." Rooted in Dana's "cephalisation" (evolution moves "headward"), it was announced triumphally, with Europeans as its pinnacle and Mars/Venus read as later/earlier stages of one planetary script. Kardashev later scaled it to cosmic "psychozoicization." Moynihan reclaims the word for an epoch we might still *earn* after the necessary episodes of planetary stupidity.
