Term Walker borrows from [Claire Webb](https://antikythera.wiki/people/claire-webb): the evolved and built instruments (photoreceptors, compound eyes, telescopes, the LHC as "a giant microscope") that set the horizon of what can be observed. Walker's strong version is ontological — the perceptual horizon "defines the boundary of us as evolutionary objects", and what looks fundamental (atoms, quarks) is just what sits at the current resolution limit. The biosphere gets deeper in time partly by extending this horizon, to the point of being able to look back at its own origin. Closest corpus neighbour is the journal's *Temporal Orientation* (instruments reset "where is now").
